Inclusion Teacher (Secondary)

Richmond Christian School is hiring for a Inclusion Teacher to join us at our Secondary Campus!

The ideal candidate is a BC certified educator who demonstrates a strong commitment towards Christian Education and a strong understanding of the BC Curriculum. You have a strong background in supporting students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
About the Position
Formerly known as a Learning Support Teacher (LST), the Inclusion Teacher works with teachers to support students with diverse needs through developing and implementing personalized education plans (IEPs). The teacher will have a caseload of students while potentially teaching classes his/her own teachable major(s). Most importantly, the teacher acts as a personal model to deepen students’ understanding of a Biblical worldview and relationship with God.
What You'll Do: These are the main duties of the Inclusion Teacher that can include other administrative tasks as required.
Direct Student Support
- Work in classrooms with small groups and individual students using the principles of Universal Design for Learning
- Use the strategies in the specialized learning plan to support and manage student learning
- Support and manage all students on specialized and individual learning plans in collaboration with Staff & Teachers, Parental & Community Involvement
Program Development & Strategy
- Coordinate school-based team meetings with parents to discuss supporting assessments, outside referrals, and concerns about individual progress
- Liaise directly with and support classroom teachers in meeting the diverse needs of students including their adoption of Universal Design for Learning practices
- Collaborate with teachers, including attending grade-based planning meetings as required, in order to deploy the learning support team resources accordingly
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Education degree with training in Special Education
- Previous experience in learning support/special education
- Demonstrated understanding and application of the Universal Design of Learning
- Legal authorization to work and teach in BC

Compensation
