Office Assistant (Summer Job)

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our team during the school's summer break. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our Business Office. This position requires strong organizational skills, professional etiquette, and the ability to provide exceptional customer support. If you are proactive, enjoy working in an ever-changing environment, and have a passion for administrative tasks, we would love to hear from you.
This role is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. This is a is a fixed-term contract for 2.5 months from June 23 - August 29, 2025, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Duties:
This position provides opportunities to become familiar with office equipment and protocols in the office environment. This position also provides work-related experience in the areas of business administration, records management, finance and accounting.
- Front desk day-to-day tasks such as answering phone inquiries, coordinating and receiving deliveries, processing and checking supplies orders
- Archive records and email/letter correspondences
- Support special projects related to data management, data audits and maintaining our electronic records
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an office clerk or in an administrative role preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent proofreading abilities to ensure high-quality documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft suite applications, especially Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Eligibility for the Canada Summer Job program:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment** and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
